• DPST (Double Pole Single Throw) : A DPST rocker switch is essentially two SPST switches connected together. It has four terminals, two connected to the power source and the other two connected to the loop. When the switch is on, both sets of terminals are connected, allowing for two separate circuits to be powered at once. This type of switch is often used for stereo equipment or multi-switch lighting systems.
• DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw): A DPDT rocker switch is like two SPDT switches together, with six terminals. When the switch is on, both sets of terminals can be connected to either the top or bottom terminal, allowing both circuits to be switched between two states of operation. This type of switch is often used for stereo systems or other complex applications.
Rocker switches are used in a variety of applications, ranging from simple lights and fans to complex industrial systems. They are chosen for their reliability, relatively low cost, and ease of use.
